The Food and Health Bureau is a new policy bureau separated from the former Health, Welfare and Food Bureau and was officially established on 1 July 2007. The bureau is responsible for food safety, environmental hygiene and health matters. The last Director was Sophia Chan, who also served as an ex-officio member of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Advisory Council. The Permanent Secretary of the Bureau also serves as a member of the Hospital Authority and an ex-officio member of the Mental Health Advisory Committee.
